Introduction

The permanent exhibition room introduces the local history of Wakayama prefecture by illustrating the lives of everyday people and their religion with some reconstructed models. The exhibit is separated into six zones. Each zone displays a period, from the primitive age to modern times. Each zone has two displays. One illustrates the lives of common folk through descriptions of historical development and detailed models. The other is much more specific and theme-oriented. The “Kumano Religion” corner might be worth special attention. We have prepared 10 computer terminals to aid in it’s explanation.

●Visitors who also visit the Wakayama Prefectural Museum of Modern Art

　(A discount on the admission fee for both museums is available on the same day of use.)

●Visitors using the mutual discount for five museums in the city
　(Those who visit the Wakayama Prefectural Museum of Modern Art, Wakayama Prefectural Museum, Wakayama City Museum, Wakayama Castle Tower, and Wakayama History Museum can receive a discount on the admission fee for the second facility. However, this is limited to within three days.)

Transportation

《From JR Wakayama Station》
   Get on the bus from bus platform No.2 (for about ten minutes),
           get off “Kenchomae” bus stop and walk south for a few minutes.　
《From Wakayama City Station》
　Get on the bus from bus platform No.2 (for about 7 minutes),
           get off “Kenchomae” bus stop and walk south for a few minutes.

Parking hours: 9:00–18:00

Garage Information
● Museums open at 9:30.
● Parking area closes at 18:00.
● If you have entered this parking area by mistake, please remove your vehicle within five minutes to avoid charges.

Rates

Museum visitors:	Free of charge for first 2 hours, ¥100 for each additional 30 minutes, ¥700 for full day
Users only for parking:	¥300 for first hour, ¥100 for each additional 30 minutes, ¥1200 for full day

Parking ticket must be validated at each of the museum ticket counters.
Discount coupon is distributed to museum visitors.
